Beechenhurst Lodge Visitor Centre
The Beechenhurst Lodge project is interesting for the empathy between the design, form, shape, materials of the building and the context of the clearing in the forest. the site is a primary visitor node in the Forest of Dean, and the Visitor Centre provides much needed, if basic, visitor facilities of shop, catering, staff accommodation, and teaching areas. The whole scheme was conceived and executed under the strictest of financial constraints at minimal cost, and exploits the use of timber and local stone.
